BLYTHE House’s ‘department store’ charity shop in Whaley Bridge celebrates its first birthday in early March after a successful year of raising vital funds for the High Peak hospice.
To celebrate the year since new Whaley resident Edwina Currie opened the shop, a Mad Hatter tea party is planned for Wednesday 6 March from 1.30pm -7pm. Everyone is welcome to attend for a complimentary drink and cake and to take part in a Mad Hat competition.
Fundraising manager Lucy Marsden said: “Until someone has a reason to visit or use a hospice, they probably don’t think about how it is funded. One way in which Blythe House raises funds is through our four charity shops: 17-19 Market Street, Whaley Bridge; 3 High Street, Buxton; 12 High Street, Chapel; and 3 Union Road, New Mills.
“The Whaley Bridge shop continues to flourish thanks to the fantastically loyal support of its volunteers, who generously give their time to cover every aspect of running the store. And of course the local community, donors and faithful customers have played an essential part in making it a huge success!”
