Furness COGS is now a registered charity and is taking on a 99 year lease from HPBC.  Since last year, they have had their field dedicated by QE2 status, thus ensuring it’s protected forever.  They have also been awarded £50,000 from Sport England towards drainage and landscaping and are hoping the work will begin very soon after the Field Day on May 17th from noon, Furness Vale Field, Park Crescent, Furness Vale SK23.

Resume of 2014 Field Day

Merge 1

Furness Vale COGS Field Day event on May 17th was a resounding success again this year and the most recent estimate of the profits from the events looks to be in the region of £3000 – far in excess of previous years.  The wonderful weather that day certainly contributed as did the support from local people and organisations who had stalls, bought advertising space, and simply turned up to enjoy the event, the wall to wall music, the Dog Show, the Mini Zoo, The Children’s Rides and Face Painting, Village Games and learn about the aspirations and achievements of the COGS organisation (Community Organising Green Space) whilst enjoying a variety of food freshly prepared on the BBQ, a beer or glass of wine or a cup or an afternoon tea prepared by Friends of Furness Vale Station. Great fun and very rewarding. 134 people filled in a survey at the information tent offering their views and comments regarding the plans for the field which will serve to inform the committee that they are keeping on track reflecting public opinion.   Please contact Susanne Lomas on 01663 744764 if you would like to join the group/committee in any capacity, be approached in 2015 to place an advert or book a stall.  The Committee of COGS (Community Organising Green Space) would like to thanks all visitors and friends for their valuable support.

AGM and Update Sept 2014

Progress on the leveling of the football field has been somewhat delayed by an issue concerning a Right of Way access across the Field which HPBC wish to resolve before handing the lease over to COGS Committee, there will be a chance for public participation at the AGM and constructive evidence and/or observation would be useful to collect.

AGM to be held 23rd September 2014, at Furness Vale Community Centre at 7pm. Further details here
