W3 adopts the Whaley Bridge Arm & Basin of the Peak Forest Canal

The Canal Basin, Whaley Bridge

After extensive negotiations and a great deal of determination, W3 is excited and proud to announce that it has formally adopted the Whaley Bridge arm of the Peak Forest Canal, as well as the basin.  They’ll be a series of activities over the next twelve months that aim to bring the local community, residents, boaters and visitors alike to help rejuvenate and maintain one of the town’s great assets and links to the past.

Watch out for more detailed updates at the Facebook page here.

Repairs to the Canal Bank being carried out by the Canal and River Trust

In the meantime we are calling for mass turnout of our supporters, friends and especially those who haven’t been involved before on Saturday November 17th (time to be fixed but probably midday) for a litter pick and clean up. More exciting events/activities are on the way but it’s vital that we get the numbers out for this as the Canal and River Trust will be in attendance and we need to show them that the town means business.

If you’d like to get involved email here or phone Nev Clarke on 01663 735284.
