Cheri, vicar of Whaley Bridge, leaving

The Rev Cheri with Christmas candles in Holy Trinity

The vicar of Whaley Bridge, the Rev Cheri Pinner, is leaving the parish in April.  By then she and her husband John, who was her assistant curate, will have completed their agreed two years’ service at Holy Trinity and St James’s, Taxal.  They will retire to Scotland, where one of their sons lives.

American born Cheri, who is in her 70s, came to Whaley Bridge from New Zealand.  She and John had spent 28 years there, bringing up their family.

Cheri and John made the announcement about their departure from the pulpits of Holy Trinity and St James’ on Sunday 29 January.  Cheri said she had enjoyed the warmth of Whaley Bridge people.  When she was first licensed to be priest in charge of Whaley Bridge in March, 2010,  the Bishop of Chester said:  “I hope you have a wonderful time in Whaley Bridge.”
