Force receives news of Government settlement

Derbyshire Constabulary’s settlement from the Government will reduce by 3.8 per cent for 2011/12.

The force will lose out on around £5.5m in specific grants and will receive £123.8m, this is compared to £128.7m in 2010/11.

The Government has also revealed for 2012/13 the force will face a further reduction of around 6.3 per cent with a settlement of around £116m.

Terry Neaves, Derbyshire Constabulary’s Director of Finance and Business Services, said: “The funding settlement is in line with our expectations but nevertheless it provides a very big challenge to face such reductions.

“We will now have to sit down and examine the budget closely with senior officers to work out how it will affect the organisation as a whole and the service we provide.”
