Suspicious people

At 10am this morning, Wednesday 17th November, a female described as being of Eastern European appearance, has been wandering around the supermarket car park in Chapel-en-le-Frith, High Peak, approaching people and asking if they want to buy gold rings. She has also been also looking into parked cars. She is wearing a brown head scarf, dark complexion, dark hair, wearing a grey 3/4 length coat and a checked skirt. Incident number: 163 of 17.11.10.

Police have received several reports of persons in a silver BMW saloon and possibly an Audi Estate flagging motorists down by a male, persistently asking for money and petrol. Excuses made have been that they needed petrol as they had run out and had a baby in the car, or asking for money as his wife is sick, etc, and offering gold rings. Locations where motorists have been flagged down are: B5056, Grangemill stretch, A52 Ashbourne, B5023 Wirksworth stretch. Incident number: 451 of 15.11.10 & Incident numbers: 320, 687 of 16.11.10.
