A blazing boat mystery on the canal near  the Tesco supermarket, Whaley Bridge, is being investigated by Derbyshire police and  the fire service.

High Peak and Dales residents reminded ‘Not Sure – Don’t Open the Door’

Police in the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales are reminding residents of the tricks that can be used by distraction burglars.

While there have been no recent incidents in this part of the county, officers are issuing the advice after residents in Chesterfield were targeted by an offender who claimed to be from Neighbourhood Watch.

Whaley Bridge narrowboat fire

Police are appealing for information, following an incident in Whaley Bridge.

At approx. 11.40pm on Saturday 20th November, an unoccupied narrow boat moored near to Whaley Bridge Marina, was damaged by fire.

Anyone with information should call police on 0345 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting crime number: 64244/10.

SNT public meeting

Police are offering residents in Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith and the surrounding areas the chance to drop in and raise any concerns.

The local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams are holding two surgeries at supermarkets, to give people the chance to stop for a chat after their shopping.

They will take place on:

. Thursday, November 25: 6 – 7pm at Tesco, Whaley Bridge.

. Friday, November 26: 5 – 7pm at Morrison’s, Chapel-en-le-Frith.
