Opening of Furness Vale Community Post Office and Shop

NBUA 9-12-14 JC 8

Dec 9th saw the opening of a Post Office Outreach Counter operated by Tim Boothman (Postmaster of Chapel-en-le-Frith) at Furness Vale Community Centre, close to the bus stop, station and with local free car parking availability nearby.

The Counter will provide full Post Office services including Euros and will be open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1.30 – 4.30pm. During the Post Office opening hours there will be a cafe and a small shop for the convenience of clients and the general public to meet, rest and chat. There is disabled access to the building from the car park and disabled facilities within the building.

Derbyshire Deaf and Hearing Support Group will be holding a Drop in session once a month offering advice or simply a chat/support with a signing person and displaying aids to support hearing impairment. As time goes on there might be other support groups interested in holding Drop-ins.

Volunteers interested in helping with the running of the shop and the cafe are encouraged to get in touch or pop along to see what is involved.  Contact Susanne Lomas on 01663 744764 with any enquiries or further information.
