Furness COGS Committee have great pleasure in inviting its supporters to a Celebratory Event on Sunday, 25th August from 3pm to be held on the field and later at the Crossings for entertainment and a BBQ.
Susanne Lomas, COGS Secretary, said:
“We are delighted that our efforts to achieve QE2 status have finally been successful as this means that our field will now be protected forever for recreational and sporting activities. We hope you will be able to join us and the community to celebrate this important occasion when we will be displaying our new commemorative plaque. Our recent success in achieving a substantial grant of £50,000 from Sport England means that we have even more to celebrate as work can shortly begin on landscaping and draining the field”.
The programme of activities for the event will be as follows:
3.00pm – 3.15pm Official acceptance of dedication and speeches.
3.15pm – 4.30pm Village games
5.00pm – late BBQ and entertainment at the Crossings (kindly sponsoring the event)
Susanne Lomas added:
“We hope this event will mark the beginning of an exciting challenge and the creation of a community facility we can all share and be proud of. This will be the first step in our endeavours to development the ‘Field’ as a beautiful, multipurpose space for all, as identified in the original consultation with the community.
“To have come so far in such a relatively short time we owe thanks to the County, Borough and Town Councillors and our MP, together with many others who have provided both financial support and encouragement to COGS; and especially to the local community which has supported our fundraising events.
“We look forward to your continued support and if you can join us please let me know either by letter, email or telephone call”.
