Council Minutes

Council Agendas are published on the notice board outside the Mechanics Institute one week prior to the meeting, as legally required. This will remain as the primary public posting point.

Council Meetings take place at the Mechanics Institute on the second Thursday of every month 7.30pm except August, when a planning meeting only is held.  The Council meeting consists of two back to back meetings, the first (TC) which considers Town Council General Business, and the second (PL) which considers Planning applications for Whaley Bridge and Furness Vale which have been submitted to High Peak Borough Council. Consequently, there is a  set of minutes for both. Anyone can attend the Council meeting, and you are encouraged to do so.

In addition, in April or May each year there is a seperate Annual Town meeting (ATM) . In May, the normal town council meeting also includes the Annual Town Council meeting (ATCM) and annual Mechanics Institute meeting (MIM). Minutes for all these meetings are provided in the tables below.Anyone can attend any of the meetings, and you are encouraged to do so.

Minutes are published on this page as soon after the monthly council meeting as possible. It is important to note that all minutes posted on this site should be considered as draft minutes. Previous months minutes are draft until they are signed as a true and correct record at the following months meeting. Final, signed Minutes are  held at  the Mechanics Institute by the Town Clerk.

For more details about submitted plans, please refer to the High Peak planning website at http://planning.highpeak.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet , where all plans and details can be downloaded by typing in the planning reference number which can be seen in the planning minutes. Alternatively, search between a start date and an end date to see all applications made in that period.

Members of the public who wish to make representations about planning issues or any other matters are invited to attend the meeting and have the opportunity to speak during the 15 minute open session at the start of the meeting. The open session is very much underused by the public and Whaley Bridge Town Council would like to see much more public participation.

Previous years data and missing data will be uploaded on an ongoing basis.
