Update on the Transhipment Warehouse Consultation

WTW_External_PerspectiveEarlier this year, many visitors to Whaley Water Weekend took time to call into the 1801 Transhipment Warehouse, at Whaley Bridge Canal Basin, to look inside this historic building and to study the illustrative ideas put forward by the Canal & River Trust’s Architects for possible future community use of this unique building.

The sketches have now been added to this site, and downloaded from  here.

These sketches are also on display in Whaley Bridge Mechanics Institute, Market Street, Whaley Bridge SK23 7AA.

At the time, we supplied a questionnaire and  received fantastic feedback that weekend, and here are some charts recording which ideas people supported, and were less keen on:

Over the next few months we hope to be able to report how you may get involved and engage in practical steps to safeguard and restore this Grade 2* Listed Building, currently identified as Heritage at Risk.
