Information appeal following fire in Whaley Bridge Memorial Park

High Peak-20140716-00458Police are appealing for information after a suspected arson attack causes damage to the Memorial Park in Whaley Bridge

Sometime between 2pm on Tuesday, July 15 and 8.45am on Wednesday, July 16, a fire was started in the Memorial Park on Wheatsheaf Road in Whaley Bridge.

The small fire caused damage to the wooden ramp of the zip-wire in the children’s play area.

Officers believe that this is the second time a fire has been started in the park. On the first occasion, no damage was caused.

Anyone with any information about the incident or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area is asked to contact PC Ellen Barlow on 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
