The Rev Michael Peat has said farewell to his flock at the Uniting Church, Whaley Bridge, after taking up a post with the multi-faith chaplaincy team at the University of Bristol.  His wife Helen is now a music teacher at Bristol Grammar School.

For the last six years, Michael was minister of the Uniting Church Partnership, which includes Fernilee and Kettleshulme as well as Whaley Bridge.  He was also chaplain to the local Royal British Legion for four years.

Michael’s last service was a joint Anglican and Partnership Covenant Service, which took place in the Uniting Church. He shared in leading the service with the Rev Margaret Jones, priest in charge of the Anglican parish.

An integral part of the service was the baptism of six year old Georgia Faye Weston, which Margaret conducted.  A full church saw Georgia anointed with oil as well as water. Georgia attends Whaley Bridge primary school.
