The teenage rider of a red moped survived a serious accident on Monday evening (11 Nov) on Chapel Road, Whaley Bridge, near the junctions with Eccles Road and Elnor Lane.

Derbyshire Police said the young man is now in Wythenshawe Hospital, where he was taken with serious head injuries. The driver of the silver Peugeot car involved in the collision is understood to have been uninjured.

The accident happened about 4.45pm, and created traffic chaos for hours. Rush hour traffic was only able to pass the scene in single file.  Later the B5470 road was closed completely for a while, as the damaged vehicles were recovered.
