Welldressing preparations start 24 June

WHALEY Bridge’s now well established Welldressing is a lovely event, encompassing the preparations (which start on Monday 24 June in the marquee at the canal basin) and culminate on Sunday 30 June, with the welldressing blessing at nearby Tom Brad’s Croft at 2.30pm.

On Saturday and Sunday 22 and 23 June, from 10am-4pm,  the potters will be at work creating the surface on which flowers and plant life can create those vivid pictures . During that weekend child can make their own mini welldressing to take home.  There is a £2 charge.

Welldressings will be on display at the canal basin and at schools and other sites in the town from 29 June-7 July.  It’s all well worth a visit to an event that is helping to keep  a Derbyshore tradition alive.

Note that on Saturday, 29 June, Rose Queen carnival day, Whaley Bridge Art Group’s annual exhibition takes place at the Uniting Church.
