Triple treats get W3 off to a great start

Whaley Water Weekend (W3) got off to a great start.  The weather was bright and warm, the crowds came out for the ‘triple treat’ evening, and the musicians – many of them local – were on form.

The triple treats of acoustic evening in the Mechanics; rock gig at the canalside stage and the fairground offering one-night-only rides for £1, gave W3 its best opening night ever.  Rose amongst Thorns, the Buxton group, got into fun mode before their stage appearance.  See the picture above, as singer Rosie gets a lift from her colleagues.

The other pictures give a flavour of the fairground and canal area and the acoustic evening. Presented by Tony Boden and Club Acoustic of Buxton, the evening’s acts included:

Shenanigans Irish Band, Lantern Pike, Little Hayfield; Simon, John and Jon, Old Pack Horse, Chapel; Matt Torr, Cool Pepper, Elastic Band and Dig Where You Stand, all Club Acoustic; Fowl Play, the Grouse; Nancy and Chudd, Beltone, Buxton.
