Whaley’s skatepark, the final jewel, to open

The last jewel in Whaley Bridge’s sporting crown – the skatepark and BMX pump track near the multiple use games area and the football ground – will be officially opened on at 4.15pm on Friday 10 August.

All the modernised and improved facilities in the area, forming a sort of sports village, have been made possible through generous public funding, national and local.  With the skatepark in full use, Whaley Bridge has facilities that any community would be proud of.

The mayor of High Peak will perform the ceremony. Afterwards there will be demonstrations of their skills by young skaters and riders. If you want to participate, you must bring your own skateboarding or BMX equipment.

See picture file of the skatepark before completion, but still providing fun for Whaley’s youth.
