Churches Together Good Friday service on Eccles Pike

The Rev Michael Peat, minister of the Uniting Church in Whaley Bridge, will
don his walking boots on Good Friday to take an ecumenical service on Eccles
Pike, between Whaley Bridge, Chinley and Chapel en le Frith.

The service is organised by Churches Together in Whaley Bridge, and many
people will walk the couple of miles to the 1250ft Pike, which has fabulous
views.  The Rev Michael invites any passing walkers to drop in for the
service, which begins at 5pm.

There are services at 9am and 10.30am in the Uniting Church on Easter Day.

Anglicans in Whaley Bridge, now without a priest in charge, will have a
senior churchman conducting their Easter services. The Archdeacon of
Macclesfield, the Venerable Ian Bishop,  will take the Maundy Thursday Holy
Communion and the Good Friday three hour meditation in Holy Trinity Church,
with Easter Day services at 8am and 10.30am  at St James’s, Taxal.

The parish has said farewell to the Rev Cheri Pinner, priest in charge for
the last two years.  American-born Cheri and her English husband John, who
has acted as her curate, are retiring to Stirling. They conducted their last
services on Palm Sunday.
