Creativity Media and NOW Films announce major feature film shooting in Whaley Bridge

Local BAFTA nominated production company NOW Films (North Of Watford) productions is delighted to announce that they are starting production on ‘The List’, a political thriller set in and around the Peak District.

Directed by Palme d’Or nominated director Klaus Huettmann, and produced in conjunction with London-based production company Creativity Media, ‘The List’ is looking certain to be a great movie, which will showcase the Peak District like never before. (more…)

Plans Announced for Whaley Bridge Welldressing 2012

The dates have been announced for the 2012 Welldressing as follows:

Welldressing-in-the-Making: June 23-30
Children’s Mini-Welldressing Event: Sat/Sun June 23-24 from 10 am to 4 pm
Welldressing Blessing: Sun July 1 at 2.30pm
Welldressings-on-Display: June 30-July 8 during daylight hours.

As ever, the venue will be  the Canal Basin/Tom Brads Croft.
All are welcome!

Pharmacist Raj wins Co-op national award

Raj Modi, a popular and familiar figure in Whaley Bridge as manager at the Co-op pharmacy, has received a national award.  He was one of ten people working in the Co-op’s national chain of pharmacies to be given the award PIP (people in pharmacy.)  It came with a small statuette.

A BUZZING START TO 2012 IN WHALEY BRIDGE

Whaley Bridge is buzzing.   In a spurt of activity giving 2012 a flying start, two prime retail sites near the Mechanics’ Institute have been let, and  work is going on or about to start on a number of projects that will improve life for most of the community.
