Whaley Bridge ‘wins’ Premier League trophy – for an hour

Whaley Bridge had a unique chance to see the Premier League championship trophy, when it was brought to the White Horse pub for a short visit, part of a tour arranged by holders Manchester United.

More than 70 members of the High Peak  branch of the Manchester United Supporters Club  crowded into the Horwich End pub.  They queued to be photographed with the trophy, alongside United legends Paddie Crerand and Mickey Thomas.  Old Trafford mascot Fred the Red also turned up. (more…)

Local charity organises Christian rock night

Taxal-based charity organiser Simon Hawthorne is putting on a nostalgic evening of Christian rock in October to raise money for the Dalit people of India.  The Bill Mason Band – described as ‘one of the seminal acts in early British Christian rock’ – tops the bill in Wythenshawe Forum, Manchester, on Friday 21 October.
