Metal thefts in High Peak

Police are urging residents to report any suspicious vehicles following several metal thefts in the HighPeak

Some time between 8am on Tuesday, March 3 and 7.30am on Tuesday, March 8, a large amount of cabling was stolen from the back garden of a house in Portland Grove, Chinley.

A working washing machine, placed in the back garden of a house in Newstead Terrace, Buxton, while the homeowner was decorating, was stolen some time between 9am and 10.30am on Tuesday, March 8.

A metal gate and two Victorian iron baths were stolen from farm land at Station Road, Hope, at around 1pm on Tuesday, March 8. A witness saw men in a white Ford Transit panel van, with a 2002 registration plate, taking the items. Police searched the area but did not find the van.

Community Safety Inspector Tony Dales said: “Residents in the High Peak often call police to report suspicious vehicles in their area and I would urge them to continue doing this.

“Try to make a note of the registration plate and the make and model of the vehicle. You can also help officers by noting the direction of travel and a description of the driver.”
