Jill Capson, wife of Whaley Bridge Village Barber Tony, is busy organising a campaign to help breast cancer awareness and research. Jill is a local ‘ambassador’ for the charity Genesis. She herself is recovering from breast cancer, a disease which took the life of her only sister Sinead last year at the age of 48.
Jill, in a shocking pink wig, recently visited the Disley nursery Blue Grass, Purple Cow to join with staff and children for a ‘pink day’. Parents of children contributed financially, and the youngsters dolled up in everything pink, to march round their playground. American owner Kimberley Munro said: “It was a good way to wear pink all day!”
Jill plans local awareness events, including a coffee morning at the Mechanics’ Institute in June.
Genesis is based at the Nightingale centre in Wythenshawe Hospital. Contact Jill on 07930 430 305.
